Suzuki Baleno compact hatchback previewed prior to IAA launch

In India, Baleno was introduced as a sedan back in 1999. It seems that the company hasn’t been able to get over it and will be launching a completely revamped model this year.

The YRA hatchback will be premiered at the upcoming 66th Frankfurt Motor Show in September as Suzuki Baleno and it will be produced out of its Indian manufacturing base.

This new hatchback (Codename: YRA) will also be sold in India and is expected to be slotted above the Swift in Suzuki’s global line-up.

The new Baleno should be a shoe-in to come Down Under and could be here by next Winter. However, the company believes that product is always the king in the automotive industry. Place: New Delhi: Japan’s Suzuki Motor Corp has named its premium hatchback as Baleno, which will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month. This video reveals that the auto will be called Baleno in global markets, reviving a name that was dropped many years ago. In India it will go up against the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Fiat Punto Evo and Volkswagen Polo.

Also set to be included is a new range of Boosterjet engines, inclusive of a 1.0 litre direct-injected turbo engine that promises improved fuel efficiency as well as performance. The company’s vision for 2020 is to achieve the target of 2 million sales annually. What are your thoughts about the revamped Baleno?
