When season 11 premieres, the Winchester brothers will be dealing with a primal force. Joining Ackles during his rendition of the song was his current costar Mark Sheppard, who played drums, and Supernatural alumni Richard Speight Jr. and Rob Benedict, who both played guitar.

“This one’s interesting because it’s not really a monster”, Ackles told.

Apart from being the most frightening force to threaten Earth, the Darkness also happens to predate everyone including Castiel and even Metatron. Padalecki thinks that Sam and Dean will need the help of God, especially with the demise of Death (Julian Richings) in figuring out how to fight the Big Bad. For starters, the brothers have no idea what the character is capable of. “We don’t know the scope of her powers”, the actor explained.

Ackles went on to explain that this character, who will portray the darkness, will seem undefeatable. “There’s no lore; there’s no guidebook; there’s no instruction manual on how to deal with this”. Padalecki teased, in particular, the appearance of two powerful entities – God and Lucifer.

“I think [the Darkness] certainly opens the door for Lucifer and/or God to pop up”.

Supernatural is renowned for making celestial and paranormal beings as humanly relatable as possible and they also made the experience of encountering these otherworldly beings as something nearly mundane. God with the help of the archangels battled out a gruesome, wrecking war over “The Darkness” and soon after, it was defeated and trapped.

The upcoming “Supernatural” season 11 will start right after the events of last season’s finale with Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) trapped in the Impala, just as The Darkness was released as the Mark of Cain was removed.

In “Supernatural” season 11, the Darkness will take the form of the femme fatale Amara.

“Since we know God’s a scribe, we may have to invite him along for the ride”, he said. Rumor had it that the Winchester brothers’ father John (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) or mother Mary (Samantha Smith) will be appearing as God in the “Supernatural” season 11.
