Paramedics were unable to resuscitate the infant.
Luz Granados-Reyes, 25, is now behind bars with a bond set at $500,000. The baby girl was found unresponsive and they performed CPR.
Paramedics found Granados-Reyes sitting on a toilet with the umbilical cord still attached to her and the female infant submerged in water beneath her, the warrant said.
Addison police have withdrawn a capital murder warrant issued for Luz Aurora Granados-Reyes after the Collin County Medical Examiner said he can’t prove her baby was alive when it was delivered in a hotel bathroom. A doctor estimated the baby to be between 30 and 32 weeks developed. Autopsy results are pending and the case remains under investigation, he said. An attorney for Granados-Reyes did not immediately comment on her behalf Wednesday.
Police said the woman “made no effort to remove the infant, provide aid or call 911 for assistance”, placed her under arrest and charged her with capital murder of a person under 6 years old.
He said Granado-Reyes wasn’t feeling well Sunday morning while getting ready for work and failed to appear at the 9 a.m. employee meeting.
“We all know her”, he added.
Huber says employees were “devastated” and “in shock” when they were told Granados-Reyes was accused of killing the baby. CPS officials say they don’t have the children and have no prior history with the family. There are options for parents who don’t want or can not care for their children.
