Called the Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus, the product can be shaped, bent, and extended to up to 10 meters long so you can add smart lighting to any space in any configuration. The new Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus, which comes with an adhesive backing so it can be easily installed out-of-sight as accent lightning (under your couch, above a kitchen counter, or below a cabinet), can still be tuned to produce nearly any color you can imagine.
As an indirect source of light, Philips Hue Lightstrip Plus can be placed anywhere in the home to complement and enrich existing Philips Hue lights, delivering a uniformed color. “Its extendable design along with its connectivity and high lumen output, means that it’s even easier for people to use light to create the experience they want across their home”. You program the lights using an app on your smartphone or tablet.
Philips’ is giving its Hue Lightstrip remote-controlled lighting a pro-style upgrade, with the supercharged version brighter and more flexible than before.
For instance, when I reviewed the original Lightstrips back in 2013, I commented on how extending the strip could get expensive, since you effectively had to buy an entire new unit.
To make it as useful as possible, the Lightstrip Plus has support for more than 300 third party apps, like Syfy Sync, Ambify, Hue Disco, NFC for Hue, IFTTT and many more. If so, then the Lightstrip Plus will be available next month, with the two-meter unit (and power adapter) priced at $89.95 / €79.95, with subsequent one meter extensions costing you $29.95 / €24.95. The product will be available in Europe and North America starting October 2015.
