Popular business (and otherwise) communication app Slack’s free-tier version, since its launch, only allowed users to bundle up a maximum of five free integrations. Slack already had integrations with 80 apps.

“If you run a service or app that periodically sends notifications, or you’d like users to share their work directly into Slack without leaving your app, chances are you could easily make use of this feature”, Slack says in a blog entry.
The San Francisco-based company announced in June it hired Google and Twitter vet April Underwood to oversee Slack API integrations and developer relations, among other platform-related products.
“But to date there has been a problem sharing custom apps for Slack-getting a copy of someone’s code, spinning up a server, and configuring incoming and outgoing webhooks is tedious and a lot of work”. Just press the button and you will be redirected to an authentication page where you can pick which Slack team you’d like to integrate with the service. It’s called the “Add to Slack” button.
The new capability, if widely adopted by app developers, could make it easier for people to use Slack and thus could make Slack a more attractive service.
The functionality of Slack’s new “Add to Slack” button is quite similar to that of the Facebook “Like” button.
Twelve apps have already introduced the “Add to Slack” button: 99Designs, Airtable, Box, Breaking News, Cronitor, HelloSign, Intercom, InVision, Launchkit, Lever, Managed by Q, Nuzzel, Wake, and Zeplin.
