Microsoft is introducing a fun way to communicate through Skype.
The company has recently announced a new feature for its messaging app called Mojis. Some, such as the ones found in Messenger, are based on existing characters, and now Microsoft is getting into that game by adding Muppets “Mojis” to Skype.
Moji compete with Facebook’s stickers, which allow users to post small moving illustrations (including selections from popular movies and shows) in chat and comments on the social network.
Skype’s Mojis will however be sourced from more established partners, where they will offer Mojis from the Muppets, Jurassic Park, Pitch ideal, Despicable Me, and Bridesmaids, with Skype planning on adding more in the future.
“Sometimes real life feels like it’s straight out of a movie and mere words just don’t do it justice”.
It would be easier to just let users send animated GIFs to each other, but to do so would deny Microsoft and the studios that agreed to this feature a chance to advertise.
The cool part is each Moji can link directly back to the source, so you won’t be wondering where it came from. The new feature is available on all three major mobile platforms: Android, iOS and Windows Phone.
It appears that thanks to the new feature, Skype users will be able to add very short pre-generated clips from movie and TV shows right into text messages and conversations.
Last but not least, you can now download Skype for Windows Phone for free via Windows Store.
