The app’s dashboard has been updated and now brings the contact search bar, upcoming meetings and recent conversations into a single place. Microsoft also redesigned the In-Call and In-Meeting experiences for simpler navigation – with larger buttons, full-screen video, and the option to view content and the speaker’s video side-by-side.
Microsoft has seen great momentum in the first few months since the arrival of Skype for Business, and today they’re announcing the preview of the new Skype for Business apps for iOS (and Android). The feature enables users to make or receive phone calls from their Skype for Business client. It is also a lot easier to switch in between video and text, with the possibility of viewing both screens at the same time.
The preview will begin in the next two weeks and the app itself will be an update for all iOS and Android Lync users later in the year.
While still at Microsoft, Aggarwal realized the need for a startup that could help companies use Skype for Business, and in turn help employees communicate effectively in the workplace. Nevertheless, it has been rebranded and given a familiar and new user interface that resembles Skype. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iOS platforms. The process has already started with Microsoft asking those wishing to participate in the preview phase of the program to contact it before the end of this week. The admin can nominate up to eight members from their organization, four for Android and four for iOS specifically.
Skype for Business users now benefits from features that include IM, voice and video calls, online meeting management and an integrated Microsoft Office experience that extends to email, calendar and chats. From the dashboard users will be able to search for contacts. Microsoft will notify those selected to test out the app next week.
