Ashley Graham championed body diversity on the the runways at New York Fashion Week yesterday, as she led the charge in a show for lingerie label Addition Elle. The size 16 model, who is 28 years-old, debuted her lingerie line for Canadian retailer Addition Elle by both starring in and running the show alongside a cast of her fellow curvy models.
Ashley was obviously pleased with the show and her performance on the catwalk, as she posted a snap of her modelling the range on her Instagram account. Ashley also opened up after the show about body confidence and revealed she had been more nervous about showing off the designs into which she had poured “blood, sweat and tears”.
“All the girls looked unbelievable!!” she captioned a photo of herself walking down the catwalk.
The 28-year-old has recently been involved in campaigns such as #PlusIsEqual and dedicated a recent TED talk to celebrating her curves.
“I really believe that women need to start looking up to other women, not for their exterior but for their interior and what they’re doing in the world”. “She also told PopSugar that as she stepped out on to the runway in her smalls she was thinking: “‘Damn, I look good!”.
The underwear collection, called Black Orchid, is designed for fuller-figured women and includes pieces in black, blue and purple.
Ashley hopes that the show is a step towards a more diverse representation of body shapes in the industry, as she thinks it’s been slow progress so far.
Do you love Ashley’s latest collection as much as we do?
