A man invited a family friend to dinner and then told him he had just killed his estranged wife, the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office said Monday.

The sheriff’s office said investigators haven’t made an official ruling on how Michelle Moen died.

In a prepared statement, Rosenzweig said “while there have been reports that Mr. Moen Shot his wife, our investigation is not able to confirm or deny that as a complete examination at the scene has not been conducted”.

The caller took off and called 911.

Deputies and the SWAT team arrived and used a police dog to help take Moen into custody because he refused to cooperate with them. Rosenzweig says the friend found Moen outdoors with a hose running from the exhaust pipe of his pickup truck to a pump house outside his home. When he’s cleared by physicians, he’ll be booked into Cowlitz County jail on an allegation of murder in the first degree.

Cleon Moen shot himself last November outside the Hall of Justice after a mistrial on domestic violence charges. Moen’s name was withheld at the time, because The Daily News typically does not release the names of suicide or suicide attempt victims.
