There have been endless discussions, heated debates and finger pointing regarding the supposed “design flaw” of the Galaxy Note 5 that obviously damages your device when you put in your S Pen backwards. This precautionary note had not been printed on the Galaxy Note 4 manual as such caution was not required on the predecessor, since its S Pen design ensured it couldn’t be inserted from the wrong end. Also, it confirms that bringing out the S Pen stylus from the compartment became quite hard if it inserted in the wrong direction.
Tech news website Android Police has reported that removal of the wrongly inserted stylus caused a detection feature for the S-Pen to stop working permanently.
What’s worse is that Samsung has refused to take the blame for this fiasco.
Congratulations Samsung! You’ve just won the annual #Brainfail award! Apparently, a mere incorrect insertion of the stylus can seriously damage the phablet.
It’s being reported today by TechRadar that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 already has a problem.
In order to clean up the exterior design, the Note 5’s stylus sits flush with the bottom edge of the handset. The problem, however, lies when it’s time to reinsert the S Pen back into its slot after use.
The report states that the functionality offered by the S-Pen stylus can be rendered useless when you insert the stylus backwards.
The Verge received an official statement from Samsung essentially stating that it’s the user’s fault for not reading the instructions properly, and that the scenario was “unexpected”.
So, if you have a Galaxy S Note 5 or plan to get one in the future, remember to stick it in nib first… Now, what if you try to push in the stylus from the wrong side? However, the Note 5 feels like a whole new phone once you actually have it in your hand.
