Rod Stewart played with Ron Wood and Kenney Jones as the Faces for a Prostate Cancer United Kingdom gig. The original lineup’s last show together was at the 1993 Brit awards, with a reunion show planned for 2012, when Stewart agreed to perform with Jones, Wood and the late Ian McLagan, for the Faces’ induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Faces reformed for the 1st time in 40 years of time of time & exposed there are more shows to return.
Stewart joined guitarist Ronnie Wood and drummer Kenney Jones for a set in front of 5,000 concertgoers at the Hurtwood Park Polo Club, according to a review by the Telegraph.
Not to be left out, Wood also weighed in with his own post, sharing: “Had me a real good time last night”.
Stewart said: ‘Being in The Faces was a whirlwind of madness but, my god, it was beyond brilliant’.
This weekend’s benefit gig was reportedly instigated by Jones, who had prostate cancer in 2013.
But Stewart proved he’s still got the moves and the voice, following vocal surgery a few years ago, to rock on with his old mates, performing classics like Ooh La La, Sweet Little Rock “n” Roller and Stay With Me. The band formed from the remnants of The Small Faces, and lasted five and a half successful years in their original incarnation in the early 70s.
