Ubisoft revealed at EGX this weekend that Rainbow Six Siege will not feature a traditional single-player campaign. Although there is some stuff you can do solo, it’s just gonna be training and matches against bots.
According to Ubisoft’s Scott Mitchell, Art Director on Rainbow Six Siege, the game will focus primarily on multiplayer. He went on to say that players can go up against an AI through all the maps or customize matches, so basically, the game still offers a type of s single player feel.
Fortunately, whether you are playing online or by yourself, you’ll still progress in the same manner, and earning the same unlocks and Renown. Mitchell added that there will be a narrative in the game, but since there are no single player missions for the campaign, it is very likely this will be more of a short story for the training mode. Connection problems are common among players, so a single player mode is needed so that the game will still be playable with poor connection.
“We’ve been getting good feedback on the content of the beta, and matchmaking and server stability have already been improved”, Straight wrote in the official release. There are still a few issues to work out, of course, and we will continue to do that over the course of the beta.
Rainbow Six: Siege is out on December 1 for Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. However, Ubisoft has chose to extend the beta until October 1.
