There’s also the prospect of more disclosure around operations that are close to the main search business, including YouTube, mobile search and display advertising, which aren’t broken out by Google. This is in addition to all the other business enterprise that the giant tech company has obtained.
Last year, a federal judge rejected a claim that the Google trademark is generic because a majority of the population uses “google” as a verb for Internet search. That was Pichai’s work. Google has the power to make generic top-level domains (gTLD) like this more prominent or search-friendly than usual web domains (the.coms, .co.uks and.bizs for example).
There’s nothing to stop Google raising the price of its Shopping fees again in the future, of course.

Now that the initial surprise of Google’s Alphabet announcement has passed, what does the restructuring mean for the company going forward?
Pichai is able to think both practically and conceptually – an asset within Google. (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and the CEO of Alphabet, believes that this allows more management scale, as he and Sergey Brin, President of Alphabet, can run things independently that aren’t very related to the core business of Google. This could mean that we’ll continue to see Page’s influence on Google, if somewhat more subtly.

Like Microsoft’s chief executive Satya Nadella, Pichai is an Indian immigrant to the US. He then pursued a MS from Stanford and did his MBA from Wharton.
How did Pichai get started at Google? In the company’s most recent annual report to the SEC, it listed only three subsidiaries: two general objective tax shelters in Ireland and one global LLC in Delaware.
