Porsche Boxster Gets A New Face

Porsche Boxster Gets A New Face

If our assumption regarding the IAA debut is correct, don’t be surprised if Porsche will reveal online the facelifted Boxster (and Cayman) before the end of this month. Consequently, we can get an unimpeded look at the updated design. Around the front of the spied Boxster, the front fascia has modified lower inlets.

The Porsche Boxster spotted had a redesigned headlights and rear lights, bumper as well as intakes.

As expected, the design changes are very subtle. Additionally, a pair of slimline LED daytime running lights have been installed which appear to be smaller than those found in the current Boxster.

Although the visual changes will not be dramatic for the updated 2016 Porsche Boxster, the mechanical changes under the hood will apparently be.

In preparation for the new boosted engines, the side intakes have been opened up a bit more, now featuring a second foil on the interior of the scoop to increase directional airflow. Obviously, the implementation of these new four cylinder engines means that the naturally-aspirated sixes of the outgoing cars will no longer be used. Mueller has also hinted earlier that the automaker’s flat-four engine, which should come in 2.0- and 2.5-liter variants along with turbo-charging, could develop a metric horsepower of up to 400 in some guises.

Another day, another batch of spy shots of the 2016 Porsche Boxster facelift – only this time round, the mule you see here has dropped most, if not all, of its camouflage to allow us an unrestricted glance. Since its introduction in 2005, the Cayman has consistently been outsold by the Boxster. That’s in contrast to previous reports which indicated that the 2016 Porsche Boxster will be revealed during an event in Geneva on March next year.
