Poll shows Sanders leading Clinton in New Hampshire

NBC’s Chuck Todd said Democratic rank-and-file voters are largely “uninspired” by Hillary Clinton during a discussion Friday of the race for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination.

One person familiar with Biden’s calls this week downplayed their significance, noting the vice president “makes calls all the time“. Many are still split.

Although Mrs. Clinton has been plagued by plummeting approval ratings, this is the first poll that has showed her trailing Sen.

Those polls can be misleading, however.

Bernie Sanders has certainly captured the hearts of progressives in the Democratic Party and many of those that have been fed up with politics as usual.

While this poll may be an outlier, it’s topline will encourage other polling firms to survey New Hampshire in the near future; and given Sanders’s lead in this poll, they will likely have to match him up with Republican candidates. And a poll released last week by Gravis Marketing/One America News showed Clinton earning 43 percent of New Hampshire votes to Sanders’ 39 percent. Sanders stood at 31% while Biden appeared at 12%. New Hampshire also has a habit of rewarding underdog candidates fighting well-financed favorites, including Democrat Gary Hart’s win over Walter Mondale in 1984 and Republican John McCain’s triumph over George W. Bush in 2000.

Biden, 72, tried for the Democratic nomination in 1988 and 2008; his son Beau reportedly told the veep before his recent death that his dad should take another shot at the White House. And I think at some point she’s perhaps not going to be able to run.

“Voters are actually pretty smart in that they know these guys probably can’t win”. Nevertheless, Sanders has more than doubled his support over the past several months as Clinton’s has eroded sharply.

It pegged Trump’s support at 29 percent. Ninety-two per cent of respondents were familiar enough with Clinton to have an opinion, compared to one-third who were familiar with Sanders. Together, the rallies underscored the growing enthusiasm gap between him and Democratic front-runner Hillary Clinton, whose campaign has been beset by growing questions about the candidate’s personal email use while secretary of state.
