Philips announces a wireless dimmer controller at $39.95

Philips has a great product with its Hue LED lighting system, but up to this point, it’s suffered one glaring flaw: it’s a little pricey. There is now a more tactile way to control the brightness of Hue bulbs, Philips has launched a new Hue wireless dimming kit which allows users to do precisely that. The kit’s multi-purpose contraption can be used as a normal wall switch or a remote control that can be carried or placed anywhere in the house.

However, Philips is one of the largest light bulbs manufacturers in the world and their products can also be controlled via a smartphone app. However, to add another feature, Philips decided to first introduce the Hue Tap that only turned the lights on and off; afterwards came the additional dimming options that allowed users to adjust their brightness as well.

In addition, the kit can control up to 10 (ten) Phillips Hue white lights simultaneously- even if the bulbs were already embedded in your house. Philips promises no flickering or buzzing with its dimmer kit, which is a common problem with traditional LED dimming solutions. Or it can be programmed individually by simply holding the dimmer near a bulb you want to control and pressing the “ON’ button for 10 seconds”. According to Philips, its new Wireless dimming kit can also be used to connect with now available Philips Hue compatible product through Philips Hue Bridge. “With the kit, anyone is able to begin enjoying the simplicity of modern dimming”, says Leonardo Avenzzano, the marketing chief for Hue.

Philips Hue Dimming Kit will cost $39.95 and will be available in North America from September. The company is a leader in cardiac care, acute care and home healthcare, energy efficient lighting solutions and new lighting applications, as well as male shaving and grooming and oral healthcare.
