Rudd has been forbidden to drink alcohol since June 26, a condition of his detention since entering a plea of guilty for drug possession and threatening to kill a former employee.
On Monday, a New Zealand judge allowed him to stay at home while on bail awaiting a November hearing on the possible breach.
The 61-year-old was remanded on bail until November 24 when he appeared in Tauranga District Court on Monday morning.
Phil Rudd, long time drummer for AC/DC, is becoming a regular feature at one of his local venues. However, drinking alcohol would likely be considered on the lower end of potential infringements. As said by the Associated Press, Rudd added, while sporting a “lopsided grin”, that he’d be spending his time out on bail focusing on “self-improvement”.
Rudd acknowledged in a courtroom abstract of details that he’d provided money, automobiles and a home to an affiliate after asking him to have the sufferer “taken out”.
He typically does not wear dentures, sometimes making his soft-spoken answers hard to understand.
For that he was sentenced to eight months’ home detention, which he is appealing. Judge Louis Bidois, remanding him without plea, had warned him he could be sent to prison if found guilty of the latest charges, and added the requirement that he undergo alcohol and drug tests on police request.
Rudd, who arrived flanked by a worker and his lawyer Craig Tuck, will appear before Judge Robert Wolff.
