Over 14 million devices running Windows 10, claims

In an open letter to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella earlier today, Mozilla CEO Chris Beard has accused Microsoft of what he calls an “aggressive move to override user choice on Windows 10″.

The company has been exceptional and has been a long lasting example of everything that’s good with the world of software technology.

With many media outlets commenting that Windows 10 is the best operating system Microsoft has ever produced, it’s no wonder that over 14 million copies have been downloaded in the first 24 hours.

The new operating system is available as an update starting July 29 and we recommend you upgrade. As CNET points out, numerous apps included in Windows 10 Home and Pro aren’t part of the Windows 10 Enterprise package.

When people update their devices to Microsoft’s new operating system, their default browsers are automatically changed to Microsoft Edge, the successor to Internet Explorer that’s included with Windows 10. You can find out what your computer is running by visiting the Control Panel and selecting System.

Once your computer has the latest updates, you’ll need to wait for a Windows icon to pop up in the taskbar on your desktop, letting you know you can reserve Windows 10. The “next generation” OS apparently requires an opt-out statement by a user to decline a default feature that allows Windows 10 to share access to any network the user logs onto with contacts listed in both Outlook and Skype, the VoIP provider Microsoft bought several years ago. Microsoft says it did this to prevent users from suffering blizzards of prompts to change defaults, and to make traditional programs work in the same was as Windows Store apps.

This definitely makes the whole upgrade process easy, efficient and effortless. The company also gathered opinions from developers of Windows-based business software, which help in selling its products to big and small enterprises.

In an impromptu Q&A on Twitter, Microsoft’s Joe Belfiore has revealed more about how Continuum will work on Windows 10 for Phones.

Microsoft responded with its own statement as releaed by The Verge: “We designed Windows 10 to provide a simple upgrade experience for users and a cohesive experience following the upgrade”.
