Also for the first time, Favor Hamilton’s husband, Mark, talked about standing by his wife.

According to Track and Field star Suzy Favor Hamilton, she has talked to her daughter regarding the sex scandal that appeared as a big problem for their family.

Hamilton told PEOPLE that her bipolar disorder was driven in the direction of sex and there was possibility that she could have been seeking alcohol and drugs, or gambling.

“Driving home, I prepared to drive my vehicle into a tree”, she said, according to People.

It all started on her 20 wedding anniversary when she and her husband went to celebrate in Sin City. That episode led to her working as a $600-an-hour escort. She calls herself an “advocate for the misunderstood” and is now a happily married mother. She felt liberated as Kelly Lundy and was empowered by the thought of making her fantasies a reality.

“It is the story of a how a supreme competitor scored her most important victory of all-reclaiming her life from the ravages of an untreated mental illness”, says a Harper Collins release about the book. It wasn’t until a reporter found her out and uncovered her double life that she stopped and reconsidered her life. Her bio reads: Competing professionally, Suzy won seven USA National titles, set two American Records, was a three-time Olympian, ran her specialty 1500m under 4:00 five times and was the second fastest American Woman in history at 3:57.40, a fraction of a second behind leader, Mary Decker Slaney. She is now living with her husband and daughter in Madison, Wisconsin and Malibu, California.

“A Life Spent Running from Madness”, Hamilton chronicles her struggles with undiagnosed bipolar disorder that began in earnest after the 2000 Summer Games and eventually drove her into thrill-seeking behavior. “This is way better than winning a race, I thought”.
