After numerous investigations, the Nissan Versa and Versa Note are being recalled along with the Armada for a separate issue.

Nissan initially told NHTSA it didn’t think it was a safety issue, saying there were no US warranty claims and the USA consumer complaint rate was 0.0031 percent of vehicles produced.

Nissan is recalling almost 300,000 of its Versa and Versa Note vehicles to adjust a console panel that could catch the driver’s shoe and slow braking efforts. In addition, another driver said their foot got trapped by the console plastic trim and blocked their foot from reaching the brake pedal.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration described such occurrences as “rare” and said it will be contacting owners of the vehicles that are affected by the recall.

Recall notices will be issued by Nissan beginning in mid-October.

Owners of the 2015 Nissan Armada who have questions should call Nissan at 800-647-7261. Nissan says the SUVs might have been built with driver or front passenger seat belt assemblies that might not latch. If, on the other hand, the devices won’t unlatch, they could prevent occupants from exiting the vehicle during an emergency.

The Fix: Dealers will modify the console trim panel for free.

The recall is limited to 2015 Nissan Armada vehicles built between April 30, 2015 and June 5, 2015.

On July 15, Nissan met with NHTSA to update officials on the service campaign repairs and to “further consult on the subject condition and the appropriate campaign classification”.
