New Windows 10 Xbox App Delivers 1080p Game Streaming and More

Microsoft today began rolling out the Xbox One August update.

The most notable change in the August 2015 update is the ability to now stream games from the Xbox One to Windows 10 in 1080p and 60fps.

Last week we learned that there was actually a hidden option for streaming Xbox One games to Windows 10, that allowed for it to appear at an even higher quality level. Due to some stellar work by Redditor OomaThurman however, you can quickly and easily unlock the Very High setting for yourself, and all you need is your favourite Notepad application. Party chat is the obvious solution to this, as this allows you and your friends to chat with one another regardless of what everyone is playing but sometimes I just wanted to chat with a buddy, or needed to contact him for something quick. Microsoft also improved the way in which game info is displayed, adding a grid view to “My Games” as well as an animating display showing which games users have recently played. From the Game Hub page, select Achievements>Compare to see all of the Achievements.

What’s interesting is another Twitter user’s reply to the conversation between Callaham and Comcast support, claiming that there is a possibility that the people behind Xbox One and Xbox 360 are not happy with Xfinity’s strategic direction – and this is the X1 platform. By focusing on these features while simultaneously bulking up the Xbox One exclusive lineup, Microsoft is proving that it can listen to its audience and react accordingly.

On top of the new system update, Microsoft is also updating the Xbox app for the Windows 10.

Other new features included in the revamped Xbox app for Windows 10 include the ability to right-click on friends’ names and send them a message or invite them to an Xbox party.

Q: Recore is probably one of my most anticipated games of 2016. Though, this feature is expected to make its way to the Xbox app eventually via a future update, as promised by Xbox boss Phil Spencer during a Windows 10 event in January.

Something tells us that September is going to be great too so let us know what you want to see the most. The Games with Gold program grants Xbox Live gold members certain privileges like free games every month and big discounts on games every week. To enable or disable this type of notification, head to Settings, hit General, and select Party & Games Invitations.
