For now, the current 360’s update will receive recently announced interactive watch faces, which show information like a step counter directly on the screen, rather than having to open a separate app to see these details. It still looks good (for the most part), but until we hear some compelling reasons as to why this new watch is a major upgrade over last year’s, it’s hard not to keep an eye or three on what Huawei and Samsung are up to with their watches.
Also, this is the first image to reveal the new Moto 360 with a black wristband and a silver casing (at least that’s how it looks from here, but there were rumors about a Rose Gold casing – Cognac band) confirming the fact that it will be available in at least two color options.
The photos were leaked via Hong Kong website HelloMotoHK. The picture reveals that original Moto 360 is much larger than the Moto 360S.
We’re curious to see the bigger version of the smartwatch alongside last year’s model, to see if the manufacturer decided to keep the same size. The size of the Moto 360L is not mentioned.
Motorola also notes that once the new software is installed, users can not downgrade to a previous software version. There’s an obvious size difference and it’s fairly compact.
It has been rumored that, just like its predecessor, the next Moto smartwatch will not employ an entirely rounded display.
Whether the not-quite-round screen is a outcome of hardware restraints or design decisions, it’s still just that little bit frustrating, particularly if the Chicago tech company wants to market its latest ticker as a premium piece of pretty.
Motorola says the update is going out in phases over the next few days, so if you can’t get it now then throw your patient cap on and wait.
