Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday night blasted the decision of the European Parliament to label goods produced in the Jewish settlements in the West Bank.

Both sides in Gaza declared victory after a ceasefire was secured to halt the seven-week war that left more than 2,000 Palestinians dead and tens of thousands homeless, and devastated entire neighbourhoods in the blockaded territory.

“It is for that reason that we are delighted to join members of our community in Whitehall to show solidarity with Prime Minister Netanyahu during his visit”.

Talks between Israel and the Palestinians broke down in April 2014.

In addition to the demonstration, a petition to arrest Netanyahu for Israel’s war crimes in Gaza has gained a surprising amount of support among British citizens.

As of the morning of September 8, the petition had nearly 107,000 signatures, having passed the 100,000 signature mark over the weekend.

The British government said Netanyahu was entitled to “complete immunity from criminal jurisdiction” under global law.

The British government said, “We recognize that the conflict in Gaza previous year took a bad toll”.

At the same time, the letter reiterated Israel’s right to defend itself against “Hamas terrorist tactics”, and closed with a nod to the United Kingdom and Israel’s “excellent bilateral relationship”.

Jewish organizations are upset that the University of California is considering adopting a creed against intolerance that makes no mention of anti-Semitism, which they say is a longstanding problem on its campuses.

Israel’s embassy in London called it a “meaningless publicity stunt”.

Israel’s “intransigence can neither be accepted nor justified” and should not be allowed “to prevent us from bringing our refugees to safety in their own homeland”, Palestinian United Nations Ambassador Riyad Mansour said in identical letters to the Security Council, General Assembly and secretary-general.

“Khamenei is not giving supporters of the agreement any room for illusion”, said Netanyahu in response to Khamenei’s comments, adding that Iran wanted to “destroy the state of Israel“.

“We do think this meeting between the president and the prime minister and other meetings that will occur in the weeks and months ahead will include a discussion about deepening the security cooperation between the USA and Israel“, Earnest said.
