Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will be flying down to Menlo Park, California to have a Q and A session with Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on September 27th, announced mark via a Facebook post today. I look forward to the Townhall Q&A on Sunday 27th September at 10 PM IST (9:30 AM Pacific time). Although such valuations have been questioned by business traditionalists, the company announced a revenue of more than $12 billion in 2014, mostly from advertising. He invited Facebook users to send in questions on his page promising to get to as many as possible.
Zuckerberg encouraged his followers to submit questions on Facebook to be posed to the prime minister during the Q&A.
Modi, who has garnered criticism and privacy questions for an effort to expand online access to government services called “Digital India”, is also expected to visit Google and Tesla’s auto factory in Fremont. Modi also encouraged people to submit questions on his mobile app.
Modi told via Facebook post that “The interaction will cover a wide range of issues and will surely be a memorable one”. It will be the second town hall event that he’ll be doing this month – this Tuesday he’s hosting one where the questions will be entirely about Facebook. The duo leaders met in October, past year when Mark was on a trip to India to begin his initiative of internet.org.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit is significant as Silicon Valley is the epi-center of innovation”.
While this is a matter of great pride for the country and for the PM himself, considering India boasts of the largest user base for Facebook outside the USA, it’ll also be interesting to see what the two are upto when they come face to face at the Facebook headquarters. The employees moved into the new Facebook headquarters just a few months ago, and the office space is filled with open desks that are scattered across the floor without any walls separating them. His agenda is otherwise laden with meetings with Silicon Valley heavyweights.
