Earlier today, T-Mobile announced a new affordable smartphone, the ZTE Obsidian. This adds to their growing arsenal of affordable phones such as the HTC Desire 626s, Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime, Samsung Galaxy Core Prime and the Kyocera Hydro Wave. That said, the ZTE Obsidian is far from flagship material and has weaker specs than some of the company’s other US-based handsets.
The camera is essentially the same situation; the rear houses a 5-megapixel shooter while the front serves up a 2-megapixel sensor for selfies (hey, it’s probably better than a 0.3-megapixel shooter, so there’s that). On the software side, the ZTE Obsidian runs Android 5.1 Lollipop. Under the hood beats the heart of a MediaTek MT6735M chipset, an entry-level offering that features a 1.GHz quad-core CPU.
T-Mobile has a new Android smartphone on the way, and it hails from Chinese maker ZTE. In the memory department, the ZTE Obsidian comes with 1GB of RAM, and 4GB of internal storage, which you can expand using a microSD card. All of this hardware will be powered by a 1980mAh battery.
The ZTE Obsidian is a small device measuring 5.41 x 2.7 x 0.4 inches with a weight of 4.65 ounces.
For the budget and price-conscious buyer, the ZTE Obsidian, hooked up to the T-Mobile network may be exactly what you are looking for in your next smartphone purchase.
