This is because Miyazaki wants the convenience level of previous games.
We’re all very excited for Dark Souls 3 and in an interview on YouTube, Global Brand Manager at Bandai Namco Games America Mike Chang revealed some new information about what the story of Dark Souls 3 will be like and how the boss fights will play out. One of the highlights of Dark Souls II was the way NG+ remixed the locations of enemies and items, making the second playthrough a new challenge for players.
New Game + also makes a return, and will thankfully share more in common with Dark Souls II than its younger siblings. In the first Dark Souls, the durability of items was never an issue; Dark Souls II’s durability system saw weapons break way too fast. This was implemented intending for the players to try out many types of weapons, but even so, I felt they broke too quickly.
We haven’t really learned much about Dark Souls III just yet.
“I personally think the weapons in Dark Souls 2 break a little too easy”. One of the more interesting tweaks to Dark Souls III is that the game will attempt to find a balance in durability. The Los Angeles Convention Center will be hosting the annual Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) which focuses on gaming systems and interactive entertainment, featuring introductions to new products and technologies. In addition to this, Miyazaki explained that a more traditional MP bar would be implemented for magic casting, similar to other action-RPGs. For Dark Souls III, Miyazaki says he is looking for a balance between these two extremes.
“Players will be able to have more criteria to accurately choose the different types of spells to best fit their tactics and strategies”, he adds. As for magic, From said the usual slate of mystic abilities will be back, but this time the studio is working hard to distinguish spells with specific traits capable of enhance players’ unique playstyles, similarly to how each weapon will sport specific battle arts.
Dark Souls III is now slated for an early 2016 release date on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
