It’s not just about box office success though, as the film has been received very positively by critics and fans alike, and the general consensus is that it lives up to all the hype that surrounded its release, and even goes beyond that. It’s far from done making money, though.

Tom Cruise has been particularly praised for the quality of his acting and the way he represented his iconic role, and many people flocked to see the film just because of the actor himself.

Tom Cruise and “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation” will roll into Tuesday’s debut at the Chinese box office with momentum, after the Paramount spy thriller crossed the $500 million mark at the worldwide box office last weekend, TheWrap reports.

In addition to Alibaba Pictures, the movie arm of the Chinese e-commerce giant, the Chinese investors backing the latest installment in the Mission: Impossible film franchise include 1905.com and two listed companies – Contemporary Eastern Investment Co and Wanda Cinema Line Corp. They might be on to something here. With its government background and resources from state broadcaster China Central Television, which owns six film channels, 1905.com was invited by Paramount Pictures to invest in the project. It will be interesting to see how a this summer showdown plays out overseas.

Once again, China is proving to be more important to Hollywood than.

The movie costs $150m to produce and with a likely big boom in China it’s likely that Ethan Hunt’s fifth adventure will become Cruise’s biggest global hit of all time. It also shows how much China still loves many of America’s classic action stars, as Arnold and Cruise both continue to do well in the nation. It should do that and pass the $546 million that 2000’s “Mission: Impossible 2” rung up, but it’s not going to catch 2011’s “Mission:Impossible – Ghost Protocol“.
