So much so in fact, that 14 million devices were upgraded in the first 24 hours after the launch of Windows 10. More than 90,000 unique PCs or tablet models have been upgraded to Windows 10 in 192 countries.



Microsoft has confirmed this week that Windows 10 is now installed on more than 75 million PCs across the globe.

It seemed a little insane when Microsoft set the ambitious goal to put Windows 10 on 1 billion devices within the next few years, but just one month after the launch the company is 7.5 percent of the way there. This also reflects that Windows 10 is the most substantial update from Microsoft for its beloved OS since 2012.

When Microsoft announced its intention to install Windows 10 on more than a billion PCs, it faced quite a bit of skepticism – that – despite appreciative reviews.

After six months, Windows 8 had ascended to 100 million licenses sold.

Microsoft hasn’t just come under fire with regards to privacy in Windows 10; it has also taken flak for new policy shifts in the operating system regarding updates. In turn, more apps will make the system – and using the Windows Store – attractive enough to get more people installing it.

Microsoft released the new operating system on 29 July to largely positive reviews.

There have been 10 million Xbox achievements unlocked across the sneaky freemium Solitaire collection and Minecraft for Windows 10 beta, although no mention of Candy Crush Saga which also comes preloaded.

Windows 10 is supposed to fix Windows 8’s problems with the return of the Start menu and better synchronization between the desktop environment and the Windows apps. Windows 10 is available free for upgrade for licensed Windows 7 and 8 users.
