The company quietly released the new messaging client on Sunday.

Microsoft has been talking about integrating Windows Phone messaging app with Skype for quite a while now.

In July, Microsoft retired its modern Windows app, pushing Windows users to use the desktop version instead.

If yes, then you will receive notifications from Messaging Skype Beta rather than the current Messaging app inside your phone.

This is the mobile version of that integration.

Now, this Skype 6.0 update is available for iOS and android via the iTunes App Store and Google Play Store respectively. We can expect improvement and enhanced features in the future updates. It is now possible to make Skype group calls on the iPad app of the latest version.

The new Skype Video app, meanwhile, serves as a single destination for video chats, like Facetime on Apple devices.

Along with Messaging Skype Beta, your smartphone will also download a second application name Skype Video Preview, which is supposed to offer a more basic Skype experience allowing users to take advantage of features like direct call with video.

Skype is a leading provider of voice and video calling services over the internet. Let us know what you think of the beta below.
