A few days ago, we told you that the Micromax-owned handset maker YU was preparing for another smartphone launch scheduled to take place on September 8.
Meanwhile, with the aim of spreading the product branding across the mobile markets, the company has already started teasing the upcoming devices via social platforms. The USP of the YU range of devices is that they run Cyanogen OS out of the box, which, along with class leading (or at least class-equaling) hardware carried by the smartphones, have made them fairly popular, in spite of the devices not being available at brick and mortar retail outlets. The rumor mill has it that the Yu5050 will go on sale exclusively from Snapdeal with the price tag of $315 / €283. According to multiple leaks from Geekbench and Zauba, YU is seemingly just not satisfied with peddling only mid-range and entry-level handsets.
Data by imports tracking website Zauba shows that YU’s YU5050 smartphone will have a 5.2-inch and is now in India for testing purposes. While the features are nearly similar as offered in Yu5050, the Yu4711 and with this the newly launched Yu4711 in the Geekbench listing for the Yu471 gains a single-core score of 263 and multi-core score of 743.
However, one of the most disappointing aspects of Micromax Yu5050 was that while it does sport a Snapdragon 810, the company has forced to downclock the speed of the octa-core processor in order to keep the thermals under check. However, this does indicate that the price is likely to be sub-Rs.
Geekbench has revealed another smartphone that YU is working on: YU4711. What is even greater about this handset is that it is running Cyanogen 12.1 pre-installed meaning that you will not have to witness all the unnecessary crapware installed on your smartphone. 25,000. At the event tomorrow we are hoping that this will be just one of the devices launched, perhaps along with the YUAPB1000 10000mAh power bank and Yu Yubic Bluetooth speaker.
