Argentine defender Nicolas Otamendi’s name has been come up this summer, as a potential Manchester United target.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a summer swoop for the Argentina worldwide as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
In a recent interview with MARCA, Kempes stressed that despite the defender’s agent stating the player wants to leave Valencia for a bigger club, he believes that Otamendi will be at the ready throughout the entire 2015-16 season.
With United’s attempts to sign Sergio Ramos from Real Madrid looking futile, they could turn their attention to Otamendi, who Kempes speaks very highly of.
“I believe that Otamendi is going to stay. Soon he will decide to stay”.
“[Otamendi] is a great centre-half who had a very good season last year”, he told radio show Al Primer Toque.
Phil Jones has been ruled out for at least three weeks with mild thrombosis leaving Van Gaal wanting to get a deal for Otamendi done quickly.
