Manchester City’s £50m bid for Kevin De Bruyne accepted

The transfer saga surrounding Kevin De Bruyne could soon be over as Wolfsburg have accepted a €70m offer from Manchester City, according to German newspaper Bild.

Should De Bruyne finally arrive for £50m City’s total spend for the summer – including the £2m spent on 18-year-old Enes Unal – would reach £152m.

On Thursday this week, City announced the signing of Argentinian defender Nicolas Otamendi from Spanish side Valencia in a deal though to be worth around £31.5m.

And it now seems that a fee of £50m has been agreed for the 24-year-old former Chelsea man. Wolfsburg aren’t thought to be keen on losing De Bruyne as his 16 goals and 20 assists helped the club to a second place finish in the Bundesliga last term.

‘Kevin is a bit exhausted at the moment because there is so much happening around him.

“He finds himself in a situation that is on his mind all the time, just like it has been over the past few weeks”.

Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking said this week that the transfer speculation was having an effect on the midfielder, and the club’s sporting executive, Klaus Allofs, appeared to suggest a transfer was in the offing when he said the club would make “a decision that will be best for everyone involved”.

“Today and in the coming days I will not comment on that, we would actually like to ignore it all for now”, he said.

“He’s our most important player, but we can still put in a strong season, even without Kevin”. We think he can play.
