Construction worker Sam Haynes was driving on Interstate 275 in Ohio when saw the white Chrysler Cavalier cutting indiscriminately across lanes on Friday while he was headed home.
Haynes noticed the driver pulled onto the highway and immediately nearly hit a guard rail, and started following her. Haynes says she was putting herself and other drivers in very real danger and he had to take action.
Haynes told the News he warned other cars to stay back to avoid being hit. Haynes filmed the encounter so that it could be used by police as evidence and chased down 43-year-old Sandra Harris.
When a motorist saw a female driver swerving at high speed in her auto on Friday he pulled her over to ensure that she and everyone on the road were out of harm’s way.
Sandra Harris was driving erratically and she was caught on camera by another driver who put himself at risk to get her off the road.
Harris admitted to using heroin and meth before operating her vehicle during an interview with sheriff’s deputies from Hamilton County Sunday afternoon, according to Mike Robison, spokesman for the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. “I wake up this morning and see my name at the top of Daily Mail – it’s hard to comprehend”, he said. She’s not going to walk anymore. Haynes said in his video, which now has more than 1 million views. “I really don’t want to see that happen to anybody else”.
“When deputies arrived at the scene, they found Harris passed out with her head on the steering wheel”, Robison said.
Haynes said his sister Lindsey was in a coma for several weeks after her accident.
‘You fell off the road a few times, ‘ says Haynes in the footage. “I don’t want to have another family go through what we’ve went through”.
Haynes stated he has no tolerance for reckless driving after his sister was struck by an impaired driver in 2009 causing her to possibly be paralyzed for the rest of her life.
“This wasn’t about being a hero; this was me reacting”.
