Malmo coach taunts Celtic after disastrous night for Scottish champions

Former Celtic striker Andy Walker has told Sky Sports that manager Ronny Deila has “fallen short” after the club’s dismal Champions League exit.

Meanwhile, Malmo boss Age Hareide has attacked the Scottish media amid controversy over the “pigs” jibe aimed at Celtic following the first leg of their Champions League play-off.

The Scotland internationalist is among those whom the club have opened talks with and while it is early days, Mulgrew has insisted that remaining with Celtic will always be his first option. “Everyone was firing each other up before the game but a game doesn’t always go how you expect”.

Celtic suffered heartache at this stage last season when they were eliminated 2-1 on aggregate by Slovenian side NK Maribor.

Malmo are again a goal behind in the second leg of the play-off after losing 3-2 in a feisty encounter in Glasgow last week.

A corner appeared to hit the arm of Malmo defender Kari Arnason before Bitton put the rebound into the net but Serbian referee Milorad Mazic was quick to disallow it.

“Many players came in and we have been unstable in the league”.

Like I said, we are footballers, we try and do our best.

“The first half was very good and we should have scored more goals – that’s the biggest issue”, Deila said. I am a part of that, I am leader of this team.

‘If this is my last game then it’s the last way I’d want to leave Celtic. We’ve got to learn. “We took some risks but we made it and now we have the best preparation we can have into the game”.

Celtic will be out to silence Malmo and progress to the UEFA Champions League group stage following a war of words between the two sides.

“We will take everything on board and watch the game back and see where we’ve gone wrong”.

Ronny Deila’s face said it all.

“I have to look at the overall performance and that wasn’t good enough”.

They sit top of the Swiss Super League with six wins from six, and won both legs of their previous Champions League qualifying round against Lech Poznan.

Southampton target Virgil van Dijk will consider his Celtic future if “the right opportunity” is presented to him before the transfer deadline.

55′ – GOAL – Malmo FF 2-0 Celtic! We didn’t cope with it. We looked very stressed, it didn’t look like we enjoyed playing football. “Anybody that was in the interview knows what I said, maybe one or two wrote it differently, but I wasn’t disrespectful to anyone”.
