Live tiger spotted at Detroit’s Packard Plant

Detroit police were dispatched to the site of the Packard Automotive Plant, one of Detroit’s most famous abandoned buildings, at 11:47 Monday morning after calls that there was an animal on the loose. Ultimately, those involved in the photo shoot, which brought three other wild animals into the plant along with the tiger, were kicked out by Packard officials.

A trainer who was on hand for the photoshoot eventually coaxed the tiger back into its trailer, The Detroit Free Press reported.

But not before the tiger got loose and holed itself up on a fourth-story staircase.

Turns out the tiger were there for a photo shoot with a British photographer.

“On the Animals of Montana website, a page advertises, “‘Texaco, ‘ our 12-year-old Siberian Tiger will amaze you with his well behaved manner.”

“I’m going to help a friend scare a tiger out of hiding in a staircase”.

The site has been mostly abandoned since about 2010 and was sold through an auction in 2013 to Arte Express Detroit to renovate the “historically significant plant”, according to PackardPlantProject.com.

“Remember, no talking near the tiger.”

“It’s this company out of Montana, Animals of Montana or something”, Andy tells us.

Hyde defended the use of animals in entertainment, and said their appearance in mass media provides an important platform to discuss issues surrounding their conservation. “You are exploiting animals!!” said another.

“I don’t know much about tiger logistics, but we were told to be this huge blue tarp monster with the weedwhacker and try to be scary and make loud noises”.

While animal handlers from Animals of Montana were on-site, PETA on Tuesday called for their license to be revoked. At some point during that shoot, video was taken by a man Animals of Montana said was hired location scout.

The attempts angered the tiger, so the handlers advised Siler and Didorosi to back away real slow.
