Liberia confirms second Ebola death as disease resurfaces

The injured party from Montserrado County, which includes Monrovia, is known as connected to the other five circumstances from bordering Margibi County, the location where the disorder resurfaced.

The World Health Organization said this showed that the resurgence of the disease was unlikely to be due to the virus being re-introduced from Sierra Leone, which is also battling the outbreak, or Guinea.

Liberia’s Chief Medical Officer and deputy Health Minister, Dr. Francis Kateh has disclosed that the latest Ebola case has hit Paynesville, Montserrado County.

The Ebola outbreak has killed more than 11,200 people, mostly in Liberia, Guinea and Sierra Leone.

Once the new cases are adequately treated – and barring the appearance of any additional cases – Liberia will have to recount the 42-day incubation period before it can again be officially declared free of the virus. “The person died in Monrovia”.

On Monday, a study published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation in the USA, said a single dose of a new Ebola vaccine that can be inhaled has been found to neutralize the deadly virus in monkeys. “This study demonstrates successful aerosol vaccination against a viral hemorrhagic fever for the first time”, virologist Alex Bukreyev, PhD, UTMB professor and senior author, said in a UTMB press release.

Apart from preparing for fighting Ebola, the donation will help to purchase drugs for flood victims in the country.

Neighbors voiced sympathy for the Kollie family in their quarantine but also concern over the spread of the disease.

“The case was carried in a critical condition to the (Ebola treatment unit) and later died”.

Health officials say the virus probably remained latent in Liberia during the lull and could have been reactivated by a survivor, via sexual transmission.
