Along with the announcement, LG released a video demonstrating the features of the new LG Rolly Keyboard and more of the mobile accessory’s details.
Two built-in arms fold out to support smartphones or tablets in an upright position while the user is typing. Powering the accessory is a single AAA battery that can reportedly last for up to three months. Unlike other portable keyboards on the market, LG’s Rolly Keyboard (model KBB-700) folds up along the four rows to create an easy-to-carry “stick” that fits into one’s pocket as easily as any purse or briefcase.
The full sized QWERTY keyboard will save up on storage and portability so you can say good bye to straining your eyes and fingertips to type on your tablet. In fact, it can connect to two devices simultaneously, and you have a shortcut to switch between them. Traveling with a tablet, it might not be convenient to lug about a full-sized wireless keyboard but LG thinks its Rolly Keyboard could be the answer. The LG Rolly can be folded into a small tube shape which the user can bring anywhere.
The official description of the product we’ve all been craving for is here and has us fangirling over LG’s solid “roll it yourself” keyboard. This keyboard comes with a 17 mm key pitch, which according to LG is equivalent to usual keyboards with 18 mm key pitch. So just connect both phone and tablet to the keyboard and swap instantly between the two. Since the launch is due to take place at IFA at any time between 4th and 9th September, we aren’t sure of pricing as yet.
Seo Young-jae, an LG Mobile devices VP, said that the Rolly keyboard is just one of a number of premium input devices it will be introducing over the coming months. After its official unveiling, LG plans to bring the keyboard to worldwide markets including United States, Europe, Latin America and Asia by the end of the year.
