LG Curved Sound Bar to launch in the fall for $699

LG Electronics USA today announced pricing and availability for LG’s first curved sound bar, scheduled to arrive at select U.S. retailers in October.

You may have had your fill of curved TV screens, but finding a sound bar to match that peculiar design isn’t a walk in the park. This would allow Music Flow to work with almost any streaming services app, including but not limited to Songza, TuneIn, iHeartRadio and Rdio – all connected through their Wi-Fi network.

The Wi-Fi-equipped LAS855M Music Flow sound bar incorporates LG’s Music Flow wireless-multizone-audio technology, which is already available in four Wi-Fi speakers from $179 to $379 and in three soundbars at $499, $599, and $999.

Other features for the LAS855M include HDMI passthrough for easy connection of components like game consoles or Blu-ray players through the bar, Bluetooth wireless connection, compatibility with TV remotes from eight manufacturers, and LG’s i-Sound mode, which auto-adjusts DSP in accordance with the sound source. The sweet spot has been expanded, as the tweeters are positioned on both sides of the sound bar to expand the range of sound. Finally, the device also supports Google Cast, letting users send music to the speaker from their mobile devices and computers. Simply select the content you want to play from your smartphone and cast it to the HS8 for a lounder sound. If, however, the speakers are all in one room, the Home Cinema Mode can be used to replicate the surround sound you’d normally only experience in theaters.

Part of LG’s Music Flow family, the accessory measures in at 1200 x 43 x 82mm and is wall-mountable.

“As a company that brought to market stunningly looking curved TVs, it’s only natural that we also follow up with a curved audio product to match”, said Min Byung-hoon, senior vice president of the LG Home Entertainment Company’s Consumer Audio Visual division.
