But laptops? Not so much. Better known to USA consumers for its TVs, home appliances, and smartphones, LG is debuting its premium LG Gram Ultra PCs to an American audience, confident that it can capitalize on the momentum of Windows 10.

All are Microsoft Signature Edition laptops, which are free of installed “junkware”, feature performance tuning, and come with “fully” virus-protected system, LG said. Dubbed the LG Gram as a nod to just light it is, the 14-inch laptop weighs only 2.16 pounds, less than the 11-inch MacBook Air. The computer sheds its weight with a shell casing made of plastic, a noticeable difference from the aluminum used on Apple’s ilk.

What makes these laptops special is, of course, their weight. The company has recently announced that they will be bringing its LG Gram series of laptops stateside in a show of confidence that they have what it takes to compete with some of the world’s largest OEMs.

Other features include two USB 3.0 ports, HDMI, a headphone jack, a micro USB port with an RJ45 adapter for connecting to a wired Ethernet network, 802.11ac WiFi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Although Apple’s Macbook and LG’s Gram laptops differ in many ways, on price they’re pretty similar. From $899, you’ll be able to pick up the 13-inch Gram, powered by an Intel Core i5 processor, sporting 128GB of internal storage and 8GB of RAM. But it is also shipping without the latest Skylake generation of processors from Intel and is instead going with the 5th generation Broadwell Core i5 and i7 chips. The LG gram 14 is also available with Intel Core i7, with 8 GB of memory and 265 GB of storage and retails for $1399.

Coming to Microsoft Stores across the United States today is a new range of Windows 10 laptops from a familiar brand.
