The first trailer for the Oscar nominee’s drama “The Revenant” was released Friday, and shows the actor trying to endure violence and betrayal in a harsh winter landscape.

20th Century Fox has released the first teaser trailer for The Revenant, the new film from Alejandro Gonzalez Inarrity (Birdman), which features a stellar cast that includes eonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter. With that, he is forced to take on the world alone – and forced to face his closest ally who betrayed him, John Fitzgerald, played by Tom Hardy. It’s taking so long because cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki is filming using only natural light, no lighting equipment or fillers or anything.

This 19th century western thriller tells story of Hugh Glass (DiCaprio), a fur trader who is mauled by a bear while out in the wilderness.
