Land Rover will likely pass on Southeast US auto plant

Jaguar Land Rover, which was considering several sites in Southeast, including North Carolina, announced Tuesday that it signed a letter of intent to build a manufacturing plant in the western Slovakia city of Nitra. This will aid in reducing shipping costs and improve production output for Jaguar cars and Land Rovers in the Easter European block.

He added: “They made sacrifices and worked tirelessly through the dark days to make JLR the world leader it is today and their skills and craftsmanship are central to the carmaker’s continued success”.

He said: “We now look forward to a period of new product impetus, which will see the introduction of new 16 model year Jaguar XF and XJ and Range Rover Evoque vehicles in the coming months”.

If you have reading the financial news involving Jaguar Land Rover, you will know that the British carmaker is experiencing big losses in China. “Nitra has no sizeable industrial parks to feed the new plant”. With JLR moving towards producing one million vehicles a year, the Slovakian plant is expected to provide capacity for up to 300,000 cars annually. With its established premium automotive industry, Slovakia is an attractive potential development opportunity for us. Though the company is yet to name the first vehicle to be produced in Slovakia, speculation has centred on the Land Rover Defender.

“The expansion of our business globally is essential to support its long-term, resilient growth”.
