A brief reveal trailer was shown during Sony’s Tokyo Game Show press conference, which can be viewed below. Do you like the look of The King of FightersXIV, or do you prefer its 2D roots?
So, who’s excited to fight even more kings?
Luke is Games Editor at IGN AU. The game was originally developed for SNK Playmore’s arcade hardware, until it switched over to the Atomiswave arcade board in 2004.
King of Fighters XIV will launch in 2016 for PS4. Departing from its beautifully created 2d sprites, this iteration of the popular fighting game franchise will feature 3d models and stages. SNK Playmore then returned to a traditional 2D presentation for 2009’s The King of Fighters XII and its 2011 follow-up The King of Fighters XIII for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was also announced for the PS4, though it is still unclear whether the game will be out for other platforms as well. Plans for a North American release were not announced.
