Kim Kardashian took to Twitter to talk about Pope Francis’ presence in the United States, but the reaction did not turn out as expected.
Television personalities Kim Kardashian (R) and Kylie Jenner arrive at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards at Sony Pictures Studios on April 14, 2013 in Culver City, California.
But a single comment by the reality TV star on the occasion of Pope Francis’s historic visit to the US was enough to reduce one Argentinian entertainment website to paroxysms of nationalist outrage and accusations of anti-papal hostility.
The tweet caused a few confusion because a website in Argentina translated it as “the pope is drugs”.
The piece, headlined ‘Did Kim Kardashian attack the Pope?’ discusses the pontiff’s many accomplishments and asks ‘What was Kim trying to say?’, which is a particularly hilarious question considering they’ve completely misinterpreted what she was actually saying. The site also reminded its readers Kardashian only became famous after she was featured in a sex tape. “How do you interpret her message?”
In case you somehow haven’t heard, Pope Francis is visiting the U.S., and social media has been buzzing over his every move. Without a doubt, this couldn’t be positive.
One of the commenters, perhaps less gently, suggested that Primicias Ya should better “inform themselves before creating controversy”. A few 16,000 people retweeted Kardashian’s post.
