Kim Davis has made a good-faith effort to comply with the court’s order, ” Mr Staver said. US District Court Judge Bunning determined that licenses did not have to include Davis’ name, a workaround to her religiously-motivated refusal to marry gay couples after the Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage nationwide in June.

Kim Davis, clerk of Rowan County, Kentucky, is being sued once again after allegedly altering the marriage licenses issued by her office – possibly in defiance of a court order.

Since Davis returned to work, questions have loomed over whether licenses issued by the office are valid, with critics accusing her of trying to skirt the court’s order by changing the documents.

However, Davis’ lawyer Matt Staver doesn’t believe the lawsuit will stick and said his client hasn’t done anything illegal.

My point is: It doesn’t matter whether Davis is a Christian, a Muslim, a Mormon or a Possumist, she is still legally obligated to leave her religious beliefs at home when performing her duty for a government entity. “They did not have my authorization”, she said. She acts on “God’s authority”. When I didn’t live for god I didn’t live for him. I’m good at my job. Davis also removed a space for her deputy clerks to sign, instead leaving only a place for them to initial them as a notary public.

Davis disagrees with a statement by one of the people initially blocked from receiving a marriage license in which the person “finally felt human” after receiving a marriage license.

Speaking exclusively to ABC, Kim Davis said: “I have never once spouted a word of hate, I’ve not been hateful”.

Truthfully, I think it’s appalling that the media is following her story so closely when they should be focusing on the four couples she’s directly victimized, two homosexual and two heterosexual.

The motion is the latest in a federal lawsuit that centers on Davis’s opposition to her name appearing on the licenses of any same-sex couples or any appearance that she authorizes those marriages. ABC News’ Paula Faris asked. While Gov. Steve Beshear, a Democrat, could theoretically call a special session, experts say the divided legislature would side with Rowan. “I’ve been called things and names that I didn’t even say when I was in the world”, she said.

If she does not want to serve same-sex couples as county clerk, then Davis should leave her position immediately.

Davis was jailed for six days earlier this month on a contempt of court charge issued by Bunning. A deputy clerk has issued about a dozen of the forms, but only after Davis modified the wording to remove all mention of her name and office. The Kentucky General Assembly, which would bring impeachment proceedings, now isn’t in session.
