Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to host new motoring show

The presenters’ deal is for three series of an as yet untitled vehicle show that will be available only to subscribers of Amazon Prime, the company’s service that offers perks such as next-day deliveries, online photo-storage and video and music streaming.

The BBC has announced Top Gear’s new host will be British media personality Chris Evans; the program is still searching for its other co-hosts. In the early 2000s, Wilman and Clarkson discussed how the “new” Top Gear would be formatted and produced during a conversation in a pub 15 years ago.

Whilst Hammond added jokingly, “Amazon?”

“Amazon? Oh yes, I have been there, I got bitten by a bull ant”, Hammond said.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson leaves his home in London, Wednesday March 11, 2015. Getting content out there is much more affordable and the hurdles are much smaller, we have seen the rise of Instagram and vine celebrities and professional Youtubers, and Netflex and Amazon have entered an arms race to make the next biggest thing.

It’s hard to overestimate just how popular Top Gear actually is, despite the fact that, to the casual eye, it appears to be a series about a trio of older men cracking occasionally racist dad jokes in a series of ugly, unassuming cars.

Andy was part of the Top Gear relaunch back in 2002 when the show was re-vamped with Jeremy, Richard and James presenting. Millions of Prime members are already joining our ground-breaking original shows.

“This is a golden age of television, a great time for TV makers and storytellers”, said Jay Marine, Vice President of Amazon Prime Instant Video EU.

The announcement comes after May and Hammond decided to step down from “Top Gear” with the hope of reuniting with Clarkson on a new show.

The new show featuring Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May will launch in 2016 and is set for three seasons. The most likely suitor for a new auto show was Netflix, with UK broadcaster ITV ruled out because of a non-compete clause in the trio’s BBC contracts.
