The Apple iPhone 6S Plus, which goes on sale at the end of the week, has a smaller battery pack than its predecessor, according to reports on Monday. The iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus will have the same battery life across the board as the outgoing iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
This ties in with previous rumours publicised ahead of the device’s launch and also follows last week’s discovery the iPhone 6S has a 1716Ah battery compared with the 2014 model’s 1810mAh cell. While it has finally been confirmed that the device does in fact featured a smaller battery capacity, what is its exact size? Despite the smaller batteries, power consumption improvements in the newer iPhones are expected to offset the capacity loss. As we learned when the smaller battery for the iPhone 6s was revealed, it’s likely this sacrifice was made in an effort to add in the extra components required for 3D Touch functionality.
Starting off, the company’s A9 SoC, which has been processed under the 16nm FinFET/14nm FinFET process, is much more efficient as opposed to A8. Also, it doesn’t necessarily mean worse battery life. Combined, the new chip and operating system may give us similar battery life to past year . Pricing details of both smartphones have been listed below.
