In the GM build of iOS 9 Apple has introduced voice training so Siri can better differentiate your voice when you invoke “Hey Siri”.
This tool may be used to ensure the owner of the phone is the one calling out her name, although this hasn’t been confirmed by Apple. The training test will ask you to say “Hey Siri” out loud three times, then you will have to answer a few basic questions.
On Wednesday, Apple took the stage at its annual fall event to announce a slew of new products including an iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, Apple TV 4, iPad Pro, and Apple Pencil.
It is now possible to add Find My Friends and Battery widgets in the Notification Center for the quick access, and just like the previous iOS version, you can quickly edit that area as well. It seems that the computer assistant can now listen to commands exclusively from the device’s owner, by recognizing his/her voice. Audio is sent off to Apple and associated with a device using a random identifier rather than an Apple ID or other personal information. Doing this will allow you to speak to Siri by saying “Hey Siri” when your iPhone is connected to power.
The feature is now available for the iPad if it is plugged in and will come built-in with the latest iterations of the iPhone, the 6S and the 6S Plus. Your iPhone will now be able to distinguish your individual voice. Privacy conscious users may not approve of this feature, but at the same time it should be noted that the ultimate ability to choose is still in the hands of users, who can turn off Siri whenever they want. Another interesting reported bug is that the assistant responds to the name “Syria”. The most popular are that the personal assistant is correcting their curse words and that it is responding to other people’s voices in certain circumstance.
