Certified by the Linux Foundation, the new operating system is said to come with powerful security features and will be able to protect from countless attacks by hackers.

What this means is that our own home grown OS which is in the pilot phase right now, will gradually replace all the other OSs, including Microsoft.

Indian authorities is all set to launch a brand new and improved model of the operating system (OS), named Bharat Operating System Solutions or BOSS this month.

It has an on-screen keyboard and a bulk file converter inbuilt in the system to ensure a safe and speedy transfer of data from one OS to BOSS.

According to the Snowden report, India was the most scrutinised nation by the USA intelligence agencies.

But, with the development of this new OS India can take care of such matters because of its good protection for the individual computers as well as the networking. Its latest version is released in 2013, now it updated the features which fit for the process.

Though the plan to have its own operating system has been the scheme of the things of the government for a past few years, it has been unable to take off due to lack of proactive and systematic approach and funding.

BOSS is developed with the help of Gujarat Technical University, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), and some other private computer manufacturers.

Ever since the GoI chose to adopt open source software, Microsoft has been losing ground in the government vertical for a while now.

It’s being claimed that the fresh codes have been written for this OS, and is being given to department of electronics and information technology (DEITY) to make it foolproof and ready to use for the ministry.

To develop it further, the government can collaborate with indigenous industry giants later to create an open source OS along with other hardware and network systems that would convince and stimulate individuals and other entities to move from other OS like Windows, BlackBerry, Macintosh, RIM etc., sources added.
