CHRIS KEANE/REUTERS ‘We have to also acknowledge we have some serious problems with race and justice and systemic racism which unfortunately is all too often present, ‘ Hillary Clinton said Thursday at a South Carolina event.
Without being pressed to describe the areas where she believes states have been micromanaged by Washington, Clinton moved on to discuss her token issue of women’s rights. Those who point to progress, she added, have “not kept their eyes and ears open”.
When Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said this week that Clinton couldn’t rely on the “gender card” to win the White House, her campaign pushed back on social media. Her approach to the issue could have a big impact on whether she can turn out African-Americans near the numbers that President Obama did in his historic race and make a difference in some key swing states in the general election. “But we need to start running together”.
“I’m not asking people to vote for me because I’m a woman”.
“The media doesn’t treat her in a kind way”, Bailey said. “You have to rebuild the bonds of trust and respect between elected officials and those they serve, between our law enforcement and the communities they serve”.
Clinton said the phrase “Black Lives Matter” needs to matter more: “This is not just a slogan”.
Lydia Bailey, a Columbia professional counselor, blamed negative media reports for a recent poll showing Clinton is losing against Republican frontrunners in battleground states. Clinton is expected to outline parts of her economic vision.
“It’s clear Hillary Clinton doesn’t have solutions to raise wages and create jobs”, Moore said.
