The film will center on a former criminal hoping to save his son from joining a group of thugs who want to steal platinum from where he works.

The inescapable “Bye, Felicia” meme was born from Ice Cube’s “Friday” back in 1995, creating the flawless dismissal hashtag years before Twitter had a chance to help further popularize it. The phrase, which the Internet has since integrated into social media vernacular, received a nod in the Cube-produced biopic “Straight Outta Compton” and sparked quite a response – for both its humorous tone and its problematic portrayal of women.

To clear allegations, it has been confirmed by Ice Cube’s publicist this week that he and his son O’Shea Jackson Jr. will not participate in the upcoming “L.A. Riot” movie. After viewing the final cut of SOC, Cube reflected on his son’s performance. Director Donovan Marsh (Spud) is now attached to direct a script written by Sascha Penn (Power). It was like, ‘Okay, he got us on that one.’ I even told Cube this a couple of months ago.

Lionsgate declined to comment, but a source says the project is still in very early stages and deals are not yet signed. Hollywood was already established before we came.

Cube can be seen next in the sequel to “Ride Along” with Kevin Hart, which hits theaters in January. “It just went through different phases [of relationship cycles]”.
